This is the campground we stayed at on our first stop in Washington, 2025
The trip from Seaside Oregon was very nice and peaceful. We crossed the Columbia River at Astoria then proceeded easterly along the Columbia River until we made it to Longview. The it was I-5 to Chehalis.
We arrived in the early afternoon, received our sit assignment and proceeded to set up. We are in a dead end like cul de sac. There are 3 full hook up spots, 4 cabins and the rest are all tent sites. Three of the cabins are occupied but we are the only RVers in the section. The area is heavily wooded with large evergreens and blackberry bushes line the outsides of the site.
So, a couple of things come to mind today. Early this morning, 0430, I took Gabby out for her morning constitutional. It was amazingly dark out with no sign of city lights. It was also deathly quiet. It has been ages since I have experienced those two together. Of course Gabby has to learn all new smells so she takes me all over. I kept on thinking what if a cougar or bear sneaks up on us. I didn't take along any defense mechanisms. Won't do that again.
Second was we kept hearing things go thump after it got dark. They came about every few minutes or so. After it was light this morning I saw what it was. Pine cones falling from the surrounding trees all over the campsite.
Yesterday May 4th we went to visit Jeni and Jay. Jeni is our second oldest. She lives on a fairly large property and has gathered quite an assortment of animals. There are several dogs and cats along with chickens and ducks. We're sure there are more to come. Check out the photos below.
